Záujemcovia z Dubaja, USA i Británie viedli o tento jedinečný model búrlivú licitáciu, ktorá vyústila do predaja kupujúcemu z obce Alderley Edge nachádzajúcej sa v grófstve Cheshire v severnom Anglicku, informuje tlačová agentúra AFP.
Išlo o jedno najpredávanejších áut v Británii
Ford Escort RS Turbo S1 čiernej farby s modrým pruhom na bokoch, pochádzajúci zo súkromnej zbierky, používala princezná z Walesu v rokoch 1985-1988, keďže uprednostňovala vlastné auto pred reprezentačnými vozidlami kráľovskej rodiny.

Daný model nebol luxusným vozidlom, patril však k jedným z najpredávanejších áut v Spojenom kráľovstve; predalo sa z neho viac ako 4,1 milióna kusov. Podobné vozidlá možno v súčasnosti nájsť v inzerátoch za približne 10.000 libier (11.800 eur).
Auto šoférovala v sprievode člena kráľovskej ochranky
Predmetný automobil vyrobila spoločnosť Ford podľa Dianiných osobných špecifikácií, a podľa dražiteľov sa predpokladá, že ide o jedinú čierno lakovanú verziu tohto modelu.
Dianu často fotografovali za volantom pri návšteve obchodov a reštaurácií v Londýne. Princezná šoférovala toto auto s členom kráľovskej ochranky na sedadle spolujazdca a bolo vybavené prvkami ako druhé spätné zrkadlo či vysielačka.
