Tento rok je to dvadsaťštyri rokov, čo zomrela pri nešťastnej autonehode princezná Diana (†36). Lekár MonSef Dahmane, ktorý ju vtedy zachraňoval, prvýkrát prehovoril, ako bojoval o jej život.
V osudnú nedeľu 31. augusta 1997 Dahmane slúžil v nemocnici Pitié-Salpêtrière, kam o druhej ráno priviezli ťažko zranenú Dianu. „Nepovedali mi, kto to je, len, že ide o mladú ženu, ktorá mala vážnu autonehodu,” spomína Dahmane po rokoch. Keď dobehol na ambulanciu, jeho stážistka plakala v kúte. Až vtedy zistil, že mu na stole leží princezná.
Privolali kardiochirurga
Diana mala silné vnútorné krvácanie a roztrhnutý osrdcovník. O pol tretej ráno preto do nemocnice privolali profesora Alaina Pavieho, najlepšieho francúzskeho kardiochirurga, ktorý odhalil, že má Diana navyše natrhnutú pľúcnu žilu.
Tú sa mu podarilo zošiť, nebolo to ale nič platné. Dianino srdce totiž prestalo biť. „Skúšali sme elektrické šoky, masáž srdca, podali sme adrenalín. Ale to srdce nie a nie naskočiť,” opísal Dahmane márnu snahu lekárov pre britský Daily Mail. „Bojovali sme a skúsili všetko, čo sa dalo. Vôbec sme nevnímali, koľko času ubehlo, dôležité bolo len, aby sme pre ňu urobili čo najviac,” povedal. Po hodine oživovania bolo jasné, že princeznú už nezachráni. Okolo štvrtej ráno ju preto vyhlásili za mŕtvu.
Sám Dahmane pritom vraj zo začiatku veril, že Diana prežije. „V Pitié-Salpêtrière sme mali už aj oveľa závažnejšie prípady, než bola Diana, a niektorých z tých ľudí sa nám podarilo zachrániť. Ju ale nie,” uviedol. „Poznamenalo nás to do konca života. Je príšerné, keď má tak krásny človek tak tragický koniec,” dodal pochmúrne. Dianin bývalý šofér zase prezradil pravý dôvod, prečo sa v Paríži zdržala až do nedele. Konzervatívci si ju totiž vzali na paškál kvôli jej kampani proti používaniu nášľapných mín a ona sa chcela vyhnúť ich útokom.

She already wears Princess Diana’s engagement ring and now Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge has the earrings to match.
Prince William has given his new bride a pair of his mother’s favourite sapphire and diamond earrings.
And she has given the jewellery her own twist by having the studs turned into drop earrings.
The earrings now seem to have become something of a favourite of Catherine’s too, with the new Duchess spotted wearing them on a number of occasions.
The 29-year-old first donned the jewels while attending Wimbledon and she also frequently wore them during the couple’s official trip to North America.

Princess Diana auction, Gloucestershire, Britain – March 2010
A letter written by Princess Diana highlighting her use of Feng Shui – due to be auctioned at Dominic Winter in Gloucestershire on Wednesday (3 March) – was written by the Princess in June 1994, the same month that The Prince of Wales confessed his affair with Camilla Parker Bowles in a TV interview with Jonathan Dimbleby.
Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese system of arranging furniture and positioning objects to encourage the flow of positive energy and fend off negativity.
In her letter, Diana revealed that a feng shui expert visited her Kensington Palace home and she rearranged her bedroom and sitting room on his advice.
She wrote: “I had a fascinating time with him as he travelled around my ‘stressed out’ environment.”
The letter, expected to fetch up to GBP 600, is being sold at Dominic Winter Auctioneers near Cirencester, Gloucestershire, and is already causing a buzz among collectors of Royal memorabilia worldwide.
