Oscarový herec Gary Oldman (62) je síce výborným umelcom, no jeho život nebol len o úspechu. Prehovoril o svojom alkoholizme, ktorý bol jeho najväčším nepriateľom.
Do pamätí divákov sa vryl ako gróf Dracula, či Sirius Black z Harryho Pottera. Za úlohu Winstona Chrichilla vo filme Najtemnejšia hodina si dokonca odniesol sošku Oscara. Jeho kariéra však nebola len o úspechu.
Herec sa trápil so závislosťou na alkohole. „Potil som vodku. Stane sa to úplne vašou súčasťou. Ráno som mal vždy čierny jazyk. Bolo to peklo. Nedalo sa to viac zľahčovať,“ prezradil v nedávnom rozhovore. „Prišiel som do baru a objednal si veľkú vodku s tonikom. Čašníkovi som povedal, nech sa ponáhľa, pretože som alkoholik a drink potrebujem mať rýchlo,“ prezradil Gary Oldman.

Ťažko sa mu odvykalo, pretože si svoju závislosť romantizoval. „Všetci moji hrdinovia boli pijanmi, alebo používali ópium. Všetci tí veľkí básnici, spisovatelia a herci boli závislí.“ Oldman je majstrom vo svojom obore. V každej postave je úplne iný a jedinečný. „V marci to bude dvadsaťštyri rokov, či nepijem. Pamätám si však všetky tie veci, ktoré ma k tomu dohnali. To, že nepijem, bolo to najlepšie, či ma v živote stretlo.“
