Polícia v Írsku v stredu oznámila, že v rámci vyšetrovania vraždy 23-ročnej učiteľky Ashling Murphyovej zatkla druhého muža. Informáciu priniesla tlačová agentúra AP.
Polícia uviedla, že podozrivého, ktorý je tridsiatnik, vypočúva na policajnej stanici v súvislosti s možným zatajovaním informácií. Ďalší podozrivý bol pre podozrenie z vraždy Murphyovej zatknutý v utorok a nachádza sa vo väzbe. Podľa utorkového článku britského denníka The Times ide o Slováka, tiež tridsiatnika. Írska polícia však takúto informáciu nezverejnila.
Telo Murphyovej, učiteľky a hudobníčky, našli 12. januára na brehoch kanála pri malom meste Tullamore v strednom Írsku. Polícia uviedla, že na ňu niekto zaútočil popoludní na chodníku popri kanáli.
Vražda vyvolala hnev a žiaľ a dotkla sa mnohých žien v Írsku aj inde vo svete, pretože podľa správ médií mladú ženu napadli, keď si bola zabehať. V utorok sa na omši na pohrebe Murphyovej v dedine Mountbolus zišli stovky smútiacich ľudí a boli medzi nimi aj írsky prezident Michael D. Higgins a premiér Micheál Martin.

“Ministerstvo zahraničných vecí a európskych záležitostí (MZVEZ) SR nemá potvrdenie, že v prípade naozaj figuruje slovenský občan,” uviedol pred stredajším rokovaním vlády hovorca rezortu diplomacie Juraj Tomaga. “Zatiaľ nebolo vznesené žiadne obvinenie ani nikto náš zastupiteľský úrad nepožiadal o pomoc,” oznámil Tomaga. “Prípad však pozorne sledujeme,” potvrdil.
